Multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs) play a key role in the care and treatment of patients. They ensure that all aspects of a patient's condition are properly considered so that the appropriate course of action and advice can be given.

The Cancer MDT was one of the first teams to be set up in Oxford. Each member has a specialist interest in the diagnosis, treatment and management of cancers of the oesophagus and the stomach.  Weekly meetings are held when the team discusses, in confidence, the best possible treatment for each patient which may include surgery, chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy as appropriate. All necessary investigations are carried out as quickly as possible and the patient kept informed of decisions. The Team comprises:
